Bigger Refunds, Better Results
It’s not April Fools: many Americans might actually enjoy tax season this year.
By returning their hard-earned money to the people, the Working Families Tax Cuts will come to the rescue of everyday taxpayers at a crucial time. Thanks to the work of President Trump and Republicans, initial figures indicate that American taxpayers will be getting an average refund of more than $3,700 for the current year - more than $300 a month.
This is nearly 11 percent greater than the refund amounts received during the previous year. For families, this is necessary breathing room. It could buy groceries, pay rent, finance child care services, or even finally fix that old car.
This is all because of the Working Families Tax Cuts that became law last summer. This law is the biggest tax reform in the history of the United States, and is based on a fundamental principle that the money earned by Americans should remain in their pockets.
One of the new components of the bill is the end of federal taxes on tips and overtime income. For many Americans, tips and overtime pay for food on the table and the roof over their heads. Waiters, waitresses, servers, nurses, and many others rely on the tips and overtime they earn in order to make ends meet. That money now truly belongs to them.
Already, nearly 20 million taxpayers have taken advantage of the No Tax on Overtime provision, earning them significant savings for the additional hours that they have spent working. In addition, more than 4.6 million Americans have been able to use the No Tax on Tips provision, which helps alleviate some of the stress from those who make their living in the service industry.
The bill also supports the backbone of the US economy: small businesses. Almost 12 million small business owners will benefit from a tax cut of nearly $7,000. For business owners, such savings could mean hiring more employees, expanding, and leaving an impact on their communities.
The Trump tax cuts looked after families with children, who stand to gain substantially from this new law. The Child Tax credit was permanently expanded with the tax law in 2025. Plus, millions of parents have claimed their new Trump Accounts, a $1,000 deposit into an investment account for newborns. With increased tax credits, private investment in America’s children, and unleashed opportunity, that money can go back into supporting children and producing generational wealth for lower and middle class families.
When all is said and done, these policy measures are yielding tangible results. In fact, 46 percent of people who have already filed taxes have made use of at least one of the new tax measures included in the law. Returning money to American families is common sense.
The Working Families Tax Cuts also show that there is an effort to establish fairness when it comes to taxation. The policy will see taxpayers stop funding benefits to illegal immigrants, numbering around 1.4 million people. American citizens do not need to contribute towards services going to individuals, including many violent criminals, who entered America illegally. Through this measure, citizens and legal employees come first once again. This is what America First is all about.
The bottom line is that this legislation will see more money in people’s pockets. There are Americans whose annual income increases by up to $13,300 due to lower tax levels and higher post-tax wages: this is life changing. Such improvements in financial well-being could make the difference between having that extra cash in the bank account at the end of the month. We’re seeing Americans start college funds, pay down debts, and even prepare for contingencies.
The economic principles of free markets are rather simple. When Americans who work hard have more of their income left after taxes, everyone wins. People spend more of their money in their community and as a result, local businesses prosper, jobs are created, and economic activity radiates out from individuals instead of being bottled up by bureaucracy.
The current tax filing season serves as irrefutable evidence of the effectiveness of such a common sense strategy. Taxpayers are getting more in their refunds. Their pay checks carry greater weight. The efforts of hard work are finally rewarded.
This tax-cutting measure can be felt firsthand by many Americans filing their tax return this year. It is not only a triumph for any given policy, but a fulfillment of the promise made to the men and women who work tirelessly to make the United States the greatest nation on God’s green earth.
